چکیده
Objective: Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is a common disorder that caused by the reduction or cessation of airflow in upper airway. Irisin, retinol-binding protein-4 (RBP-4), and adiponectin are three significant factors metabolic process human body. The objective this study was to investigate whether plasma irisin, RBP-4, levels associated with severity OSAS. Methods: According inclusion exclusion criteria, 125 patients OSAS 46 healthy, gender-matched controls were included study. classified according hypopnea index (AHI) as 14 mild cases (5 < AHI 15), 23 moderate (15 30), 88 severe (AHI > 30). measured compared between groups. Results: RBP-4 higher other groups, irisin significantly lower There negative correlation (r = −0.421; p 0.001), −0.834; positive 0.240; 0.002). −0.507; 0.001) 0.473; 0.001). As predictor OSAS, showed highest specificity (84.8%) sensitivity (92.0%). Conclusion: Circulating adiponectin, may be new biomarkers addition risk such diabetes, obesity, hypertension. When polysomnography not available, these parameters clinical data can used diagnose disease. result, an score greater than thirty should closely monitored for abnormalities.

Obstructive sleep apnea and the severity of coronary artery disease
Background: It has been implicated that obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease including stroke, myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease (CAD) and hypertension. The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between OSA and severity of atherosclerosis assessed by angiography. Methods: This study included 337 patients ...

OBJECTIVES To evaluate the correlation between concentrations of the proinflammatory cytokines monocyte chemotactic protein 1 (MCP-1), adiponectin, interleukin 6 (IL-6), interleukin 8 (IL-8), and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). Repeated apnea attacks in patients with OSAS constitute a hypoxic condition, which induces tissue inflammation by ...

Abstract Bckground: Patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are at risk of developing the fatty liver as a result of being overweight. Several studies suggest that OSA per se could be a risk factor for liver injury and ischemic hepatitis with OSA. The OSA is an independent risk factor for Insulin resistance. Therefore, we investigated liver enzymes and insulin resistance in patients with O...

OBJECTIVE To investigate whether sleep-disordered breathing and/or plasma adiponectin levels are associated with insulin resistance independent of obesity or fat distribution in obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS). DESIGN Cross-sectional clinical study. PATIENTS Two-hundred and thirteen Japanese patients with OSAS aged 27-80 years were divided into three groups: 30 with mild OSAS [apno...

BACKGROUND Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is associated with impaired glucose metabolism and insulin resistance. Retinol-binding protein-4 (RBP-4) is an adipokine, hypothesized to induce insulin resistance. OBJECTIVES The aim of the study was to explore the association between serum RBP-4 levels and OSAS severity in nondiabetic, adherent to therapy OSAS patients and to investigate th...
